From the motorised hand
to the technology of the future

 

Even before founding Hako in 1948, Hans Koch had a keen sense for the needs of his time: By developing “DiMoHa”, which is short in German for “the motorised hand”, he invented the worldwide first small powered cultivator. Then and now, in the best of tradition, with each new product and innovative feature, Hako actively participates in shaping the future of Cleaning and Municipal Technology!

The beginning

1948
Foundation of Hako in Pinneberg near Hamburg. Both the powered cultivators and single-axis rotary hoes go into series production..

1954
Relocation of Hako to Bad Oldesloe.

1956
Development of the legendary motor hoe “Hakorette”, which, as a token of significant technical achievement, is exhibited in the Deutsches Museum in Munich, together with the “DiMoHa”!

1960
“Hakotrac T6”, the first compact tractor, goes into production. 

A good start for the Cleaning Technology segment

1961
Development and production of the first European vacuum-sweeper.

1962
Construction of the subsidiary plant in Trappenkamp – which today is Hako’s competence centre for plastics processing.

1975
The first European vacuum sweeper goes into production.

1980
Acquisition of American Cleaning Equipment Corporation – now operating as Minuteman International, USA.

1994
Way ahead of its time: Hako presents its first autonomously navigating cleaning robot!

Tapping into the Municipal Technology segment

1995
By introducing the “Citymaster 1750” to the market, Hako sets the ball rolling for the segment of municipal outdoor cleaning products.

1996
Foundation of Hako Holding GmbH & Co.

1998
By acquiring the Thuringia-based company Multicar Waltershausen, Hako taps into the field of multifunctional load and implement carriers.

2001
Hako presents the “Citymaster 300“, the first ultra-compact city cleaning machine with articulated steering – and introduces pioneering waste management concepts. 

2004
World premiere of the “Citytrac 4200“, a machine designed for municipal and commercial all-season application.

2004-2007
Controlled, systematic transition into becoming a member of the Possehl Group as an independent division.

2006
Premiere of the “Citymaster 1200” – and: market leadership after only 10 years in this business segment!

Hako shapes the future

2011
Presentation of the online-based fleet management tool “Hako Fleet-Management”.

2013
Setting new standards in the field of mobile workplaces: The “Multicar M31” focusses on safety features as well as driving and operating comfort.

2014
Hako unites excellent performance and compact dimensions: The “Citymaster 1600” combines the superior characteristics of a large sweeper with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tons.

2018
Expansion of the product portfolio by the competence area of waterjet technology through acquiring the company von Oertzen.

2018

2019
By presenting the “Citymaster 1650 ZE” – the functional model of an all-electric road sweeper – Hako opens a new chapter in the field of Municipal Technology.
